Yesterday we went to Target so the kids could pick out bedding for their new bunk beds. I had to fight the urge to direct their choices. They had some super cute fish sheets and quilts for both boys and girls and the designer in me wanted the kids to have coordinated bedding. But the wiser voice in my head that is not my own told me to let it go. So Addie chose purple flowers and Daniel chose racing motorcycle/skateboard/train/car bedding that reminded me a little of Skidz...

They were both so excited to sleep in their new beds with their new sheets that they didn't want to read books. But once in bed they spent 2 hours talking, giggling, and climbing out of bed for much "needed" drinks of water. I guess every night will be a slumber party for awhile.

let me know how it works out to have a boy/girl sharing a room and bunkbed... i've wondered if we could one day do that with ben & caroline! hope it works out great once the slumber parties wane.
ReplyDeleteand WAY TO GO to let go and let them pick out their own bedding! the artsy side of me totally would have tried to pick out my choices rather than theirs, but you're right... it's probably better for them to choose.
and if they're staying up two hours at night, maybe you could just put them to bed two hours early? :) ha!
Okay, did you have any fear issues w/Daniel for the top bunk with Daniel? I need to get Ainsley on board with it and she's balking.
ReplyDeleteHe did voice some fears but I told him the rails on his bunk bed were the same height as the rails on his twin bed so he can't fall out. He wasn't totally on board until I mentioned Brother and Sister slept in bunk beds in Berenstain Bears and brother got to sleep on top because he's older. Does that count as peer pressure?
